ours was same price last time,£196.00.very disappointed with the service, caravan covered in oil from there hands.gas fire not touched,or fridge if i am right.refitted a mushroom vent without removing the old seal, good that.a mobile fitter next time.i have cleared it with the Caravan Club.could have done a better job myself but not allowed because of insurance small print.where is Walsall,is it staffs?i could give you a number.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Because the van fridge is a 12v Compression one, that is not included in the service.
The total cost was £120 and I am pleased as punch with both the work that was done and the professionalism of the engineer from Approved Caravan Services of Bishopton.
I recommend them to anyone on the West Coast of Scotland.
Had mine serviced at the dealers who are really awkward for me to access due to time restrictions for 2 years at a cost of £180. Had it done by mobile mechanic on my driveway this year for £130. Worth a check if someone in your area.
I had mine serviced in Feb 08 by MG Caravans in Todmorden - cost £180 odd. That includes a full damp test and a new set of "one-shot" nuts for Alko hubs. I'm confident that they do actually do all the mechanical, electrical and gas checks and verify that everything is working. They definitely also remove the brake hubs, clean the brakes and readjust properly.
I don't think that's a bad price really - at least, not compared with the cost of a 9000 miles service at the main dealers for the 'tug' (Nissan Patrol) which was over £300. Even having the air conditioning serviced cost £60 and that was a special offer!!
My local dealer did my first annual service jan 08 at a cost £215 which although may seem excessive i do no the job is done 100% and a comprehensive written report is included , i have been on site when they service vans and they are extremely thorough and to be honest i do not regard £215 as much money when my yearly service for my x-trail is considerably more , I could take it to Barrons 40 miles south in cumbria but any time i have dealt with them in the past they have tried to rip me off with the miserly trade in price for a 2 year old mint van probably because i did not buy it there. Although there service quote was cheaper i most certainly would not deal with them and will continue to deal with my local baily dealer because i know the job is done right. His customer after -sales is second to none
isnt there an issue with caravan servicing that affects the warrenty with new caravans. we understood that unless the dealer who you bought it from does the service the warrenty can be invalid.
seems strange with Canwell as we got a really serious deal on our new charisma from them
How can you compare the price with a car service. Does your caravan service include oil and filter changes? Has it got a complex hydraulic braking system and steering gear etc etc etc
