Hi to one and all,

new to this caravanning thing and could not decide between the bailey ranger 550 or the abbey vogue 540.

i have choose the abbey vogue as its a year old with awning and picking it up for |£10,000....... (private)..... as neware 12,790 without awing water carrier thing, waste, battery the growing list.... Away from my question, was my choose a wise one in the abbey and is this a good deal ????

Thoughts please........ I have wondered through the message board and i am a bit bogged down with advise and tips my head hurts and i need to go a lie down as it is not sinking in all this info on the caravanning thing.

IMHO, having been an Abbey owner in the past, the Vogue is in a different class to the Bailey Ranger (a bit Ikea'ish and not so solidy built for me). I think that you will be well pleased witth your purchase. Our Abbey was 6 years old when we bought it, and had stood caravanning with a family with youngsters with little or no signs of wear and tear. When we px'ed it for our present van, it was on the dealer forecourt at top dollar for a day before being snapped up by another hopefully very happy owner. I still miss that van!!

Hi,

The Ranger would make an excellent entry level caravan, but for me the Swift Group Abbey Vogue/Swift Challenger range have the edge.

Well Ru55ell

You will have gathered by the last comment thet there is frequent, amiable dicussion about the merits (or not) of the various manufacturers. In the Bailey question, there are those that love 'em and those that dont. What is important though is that whatever you have, you enjoy it for what it brings you, be it a Bailey, Adria, Swift, etc. etc. .... unless it is one of those pop-up things of course!

|Thank, thank and finally thank you for your response on my matter and the warm welcome.....

I will be picking up my Abbey on Thursday so i hope to enjoy the adventures the caravan brings (in the childrens case no end i'm sure)... If you do see me making those virgin caravaners errors, struggle and fight with my awning please feel free to laugh but then do bring a beer and give us a hand......

|Russ...

Hi Ru55ell,

I went through the same deliberations this time last year, and ended up buying the Abbey Vogue 540, and not regretted the decision for one minute. I looked at all the manufacturers for a fixed bunk 6 berth layout and came to the conclusion that the Abbey had the edge in terms of build quality weight & price.

I hope you enjoy your van as much as we do ours.

Hi Russ,

Welcome to the Forum....

I am on my Second Abbey Expression by Michael Jordon, obviously this is an Abbey van and I love them.  I have had no problems with my van and I wish you the same.   One thing I will reitterate is enjoy everymonent.

It took my husband 10 years to convince me to get a van (he got me on a weak moment) but..... I wish he had convinced me 10 years earlier....

As far as laughing at you putting up your awning and then bringing the beer over and helping... consider it done, I can promise it will be in that order though, laughter, beer oh and then help!!!

Enjoy!

We bought our Vogue new last year. We have had over 15 trips with it and not a thing has gone wrong ( I am now touching wood) I am sure that you will be delighted with it.
