Hi ,we have a Bailey 510 ,which battery do we need please ?
What exactly does the battery run ? ( on our old van it was only the lighting )
And which charger will we need ? We have several car battery chargers but they all say 'normal charge ' or 'quick charge ' are they any good ?
Am I right in thinking once a leisure is drained or left unused for any period of time it becomes useless?
Thanks you :)
More silly questions to follow ,I have no doubt!!

I'd always use a 110Ah one
Normally, if you haven't got 240V, then the water heater, heater and fridge will be run on gas. The 12v things will be the lighting, water pump, and anything else you plug in to the 12v sockets
You are best using a charger which gives you good amps, normally 6A or greater
Leisure batteries are designed to run flat, so that's not a problem. But it's better to give them an occasional charge even when not in use.

I would say you could have either a 110amp or 85amp leisure battery.
The battery runs ( in our caravan ) most of the lighting , water pump , ignitors for the water heater / fridge , toilet flush .
I would say you will probably be better off buying a proper caravan battery charger see here .
Am I right in thinking once a leisure is drained or left unused for any period of time it becomes useless? Yes

re draining a battery, running it flat then recharging it (if that's what you mean) won't make it useless
Leaving it charged and unused over the winter (if that's what you mean) is normal
I'm suspecting Wizard and I are at cross purposes here. Are we, Wizard???

I think there's a few different ways of reading thisAm I right in thinking once a leisure is drained or left unused for any period of time it becomes useless?
It should read Am I right in thinking once a leisure battery is drained and left unused for a period of time it becomes useless? Imo the answer would be yes .Although leisure batteries can be flattened , they shouldn't be left flat.
Or read Am I right in thinking once a leisure battery is left unused for any period of time it becomes useless? Imo the answer would be no. But it should be charged about once every month to keep it in good condition.

If you're having a motor mover fitted, or planning to go away for a week at a time without EHU, go for a 110 aph. Otherwise an 85 APH will be fine.------------- Caz

Some caravan items ( as above ) need 12volts , if you don't have a charger(with transformer) they won't work , i'd recommend you check this before you go away .

I presumed every that was electrically powred in the Bailey was dual powered ( both ehu or battery ) thought you just flicked a switch ? :(

It depends if you have a built-in transformer . Either try running off ehu or give bailey a ring and ask them .

Many newer vans will run via the transformer without a battery in place but some need a battery. It should say in the handbook.------------- Caz
