We have just been to the Peak District for a very wet weekend and our little Sunncamp 260 awning has had a real deluge to cope with. It is the first time we have used this type of nylon light weight porch awning and whilst it was extremely quick and easy to put up and take down it leaked along the awning rail and dripped in right over the caravan door which drove my husband mad!

We are quite new to caravanning and wondered if this is par for the course or should we (as the man on the next pitch says he does) treat the awning rail with silicon or treat the awning itself?

Our big awning which we use if we are staying for more than a couple of days does not seem to have this problem. However, it was a particularly wet day - about 14 hours of none stop rain - and I wonder whether this is just a one of those camping and caravanning things that you have to put up with!

Anyone got any advice?

Thanks for the advice - we will be getting seam sealant tomorrow! Actually apart from the awning rail seam I thought it did  really well as the weather was terrible. Not particularly violent but just relentless rain and this morning nearly a gale which it stood up to really well.
