Am thinking of buying a porch awning and have spent ages looking at various websites, but (and I have a feeling it's a nasty but) what happens if your van's on a slope. Our touring van is permanently pitched, but unfortunately it's on an incline. Are there any porch awnings that can cope with this? Thanks
Hi wendiwoo,we got over this problem by buying a campervan annex porch awning,and with the tunnel connection we can adjust the height accordingly.We have an abi van with a low awning rail which is the reason we first got it.
I suppose it depends on how much of an incline you are talking about, but the lightweight ones like the sunn camp or Towsure Panama labelled version can cope well with slopes as the poles arc from ground to awning rail.
I have an Isabella Magnum which has a long footprint and so magnifies this problem.
Despite that it's not a big issue; on the side that's a bit on "tiptoes" I just loop a second elastic on the peg loops that are pushed a bit; on the side that has a bit of spare in the drop I lose it by angling the base out enough.
The difficulties are only at the peggings near the van sides; away towards the front its all back to normal.
As I said with this awning its not a big difficulty.
It looks a bit skew but that would be the case with any awning stood on sloping ground fitted to a levelled van.
