hi all

i have had an insurance quote from caravan guard. they have stated that i must have a wheel clamp.

can anyone shed some light as to which wheel clamp they have specified that it must cover at least one wheel nut

any advise please

Seems we got a good deal as its around £80-£100 everywhere

Ours is still in the box. Never been used.

Our insurance say to use either a hitch lock or a wheel clamp. Hitch lock it sooo much easier

So we use a hitch lock and the van is alarmed.

Picking up our new caravan next weekend. It's our first 'van and we have still to sort out insurance. I already have 2 wheel clamps:

A Bulldog Euro clamp

And an SAS HD1 Clamp

Do you think these will be ok for the insurance company? Or will I also need a hitchlock as well? I believe the Bulldog is Sold Secure Gold rated but don't know about the SAS clamp.

Hi Becky, I use the Nemesis wheel clamp, and although it's heavy, it's also very solid. Mind you, I also use a Milenco wheelclamp, a Robstop hitchlock, padlocks on the rear steadies, a motorbike chain and heavy duty padlock, and set the alarm. And my 'van's locked in my yard behind big wooden gates with three locks!

I'm not concerned about just meeting the insurance company's minimum requirements, or that it takes a little while to lock up, I don't want any thieving scumbags to find it easy to nick! And 10-15 minutes to lock it up is easier than not being able to go away in it 'cos it's not there!
