My van insurance is up for renewal and I have been using it less and less, it went out on the road 3 times last year and once this year with 1 other trip planned for September

My renewal is £166 a year.

Is there a better deal out there for vans that do little mileage?

It is kept at our horse yard and used for foal watching mainly.

I think you can suspend your insurance, for up to twice in a year, then reinstate when you whish to use your vehicle.

Thanks guys my quote is with the CIS.  No chance of it going from yard, locked behind big gates, watched over by nasty Sheperd dog haha

It would be great to cut down on insurance.  It certainly adds up - we have caravan insurance, horse trailer, two horses, a dog.  I get the feeling that if we did save a lot of money by getting rid of some then that would be tempting fate and yet £1270 e year would cover most emergencies as we have never claimed on any yet.

Brian I was thinking just that when my ID hunter ( in my avitar on the left) ran through the fencing and has had 3k in vets bills.

I am always looking at new quotes but never to cancel, get the price down and I am happy.

But tempting fate is a no no

My wife worries about her horses when we go away.  We are going away for a couple of weeks to the south of france with the van this summer and I know she will fret over her horse and to a lesser extent my daughters pony.

I say to her don't worry - they are both insured, but it doesn't seem to console her much.

We use caravan guard but haven't made any claims yet.  The one company that always seems to get criticism on here is E & I.  They seem to have a poor reputation for paying up.  They also do horse insurance and when my wife mentioned them and how cheap her freinds horse insurance was with them, I immediately thought of the posts on here.

Pole Barge and wouldn't touch somone elses is my opinion of them and not in that order.

I dont know of any vet that will entertain them. Cheap for a reason I say which is why I am so surprised at the good stuff I hear about Caravan Guard on here as they were £70 cheaper than the CIS.

I had to laugh as the CIS guy was very sweet and asked if the other company that quoted me was an ethical company like they are, for that saving I said I didn't really care if they were or not haha.

Happy holidays
