Hi, I don't know what the proper name for them is, but I have seen in newer caravans that on the wall behind the seating cushions, they have some kind of boarding, presumably to stop damp and condensation formimg. Our older Avondale hasn't got these and we were wondering if it is possible to put them in ourselves. Has anyone done this and does it make a difference?

my 1987 abi viceroy has them. presume you can fit them speak to your local caravan breaker they can offer good advise

We have these boards in our caravan and imo they do make a difference .
I would think it's a pretty easy diy job.

Thanks. My OH thinks he should leave an air gap between the caravan and the board, maybe by sticking small wood blocks onto van walls and then screwing the new boards to the blocks?

One other thing, anybody any idea what the board should be made of and should we use anything to cover it with?  Sorry to be a pain.

Yes your OH is right , you need to leave a air gap 1/2" should do .
For board you could use thin plywood and cover with wall paper .
Or proper caravan wall board ( but this is only 3mm thick so may need more support ).

Noticed these in our new caravan . . .  Being new to caravans I wondered why they were there. Ours has them in the lounge and around the fixed bed.

yes it does,the reason for condensation on a bed mattress or seat can only come from the heat inside and the cold walls.the half inch gap prevents this from happening because air can circulate.
