hi jules

Sorry to hear you re having trouble and this is only a suggestion.  Try opening door where cassette fits and checking fuse left had side.

Hope this gets it sorted for you.

Regards,

Rexton

I'd have thought (if it's an electric flush) that it's more to do with the battery problem you've described on your other thread.

If its a Thetford Cassette toilet then I have just had mine replaired after similar symptoms - no sound from pump etc.

1.  It could be just the impeller in the pump is stuck, especially if it has not been used for a while.  Remove the pump from the header tank by looking under the toilet roll holder on the right of the seat - you will need to undo one screw.  Lift the pump up and turn over and turn the 'blades' with a screwdriver to free them up and try it again.  New pump is about £30 online

2.  Check the fuse in the outside toilet compartment, it's in a small screw housing

3.  Lastly it could be the mechanism itself (see http://www.leisureshopdirect.com/LargeImagePageNoSpecs.aspx?image_id=16404&shop=caravan

Mine "went" a couple of years ago and after a few checks I found it was the flush button microswitch that had gone faulty. I had to prise off the front panel and replace the switch. I bought a higher rated switch from Maplins (£2) and it only required me to make the fixing hole a little larger to accomodate it. Its worked fine since then.

Can I suggest you put a little vaseline on the terminals to keep out any damp as well.

Our non electric Thetford loo seems to have lost resistance when flushing. Just went 'soft' half way through one flush. Still works but a minute amount of water is released in comparison to before. Van is new. We asked at a local camping shop as we were away and he reckoned a seal may have flipped. Having dismantled the offending item could see nothing awry but still the same problem on reassembly. Anyone any ideas?
