Early this year I purchased an Eriba Triton caravan.  Everything is fine with it apart from the fact that it came without 12v battery power.  We usually get along OK using the EHU and gas, but would like to use a leisure battery for the water pump and lights to give us a bit more freedom when visiting certified sites, motor racing meetings etc.

The small generator we recently purchased is fine when the weather is dry, but cannot use it in wet weather and even when advertised as a 'silent' generator, it is still quite a bit noisy!!

We have recently been quoted approx £600 by our local caravan centre to fit 12v battery and all wiring, but wondered if this is a bit steep or is this the going rate?

Can anyone help please?

Its probably a bit steep but I imagine that price will be to fit a charger & control panel to bring it to the same spec as a modern sytem that allows the battery to charge while plugged into the EHU.

A cheaper alternative might be to fit the system I have in my '88 Eriba Pan, it has a 12v battery but no charger, however the battery can still be charged from the car while driving in the normal way provided the car has twin electrics. when plugged into the EHU the Eriba as a transformer to run the 12v taps & lights.

You can get more advice if you go on the uk eriba forum
