sorry to hear of your loss john, but please don't tar all caravaners with the same brush, albeit i understand how annoyed you probably are. the owner of the compound where we store our van told me that it's usually gipsy's who break into compounds and 'remove' what they require rather than go to a dealer, but he did say they usually target hobby caravans as these are the more favoured vans of our ' not so welcome travelling friends' sympathise with you, but seems you are going to have to bite the bullet and claim a replacement from your insurance company, i know it's grossly unfair, but chances of you finding the window are pretty remote.sorry once again.

The storage place should be liable for something surely? It can't be secure if theives can get in and do that unoticed?
Cant imagine that a normal camper would do that, apart from anything when you came to sell the c'van on it would be noticed that the CRIS number was different or rubbed off on that window, being the front one its the first one you look at. Also if you have a decent c'van and pay for storage wouldn't have thought you would be hard up to replace a window?
No wonder you are mad, having to pay the excess, its so unfair, when you think your van is safe and sound!
I think you may find the storage place isnt liable at all! a sad but true fact on the ones I've seen, thats why we have insurance.
However I do agree with your point that theyre possibly not up to the job. Theyre in a corner where they should be demonstrating they ARE up to it.
I've joked elsewhere about the electric fence on the outer edge of the storage I use but that was put in by the owner in response to an incident. He took it on the chin, looked into it and sorted it, so far, touch wood and anything else, its worked. Positive action.
Hello i am so sorry to hear of your horrid news, i recently posted a thread on here asking for help to locate a side window for an Abbey Aventura as we had a confrontation with a tree...and lost !!! so i know how much these things are to replace £250 for ours 1000 by 600, new, however £110 for a second hand one from O'learys, then there is fitting, i also live in south yorkshire, well Barnsley so will keep an eye out and check our large storage compound, also a cassio gold site i will ask the owners of their view how they stand with any liability/ access to camera tape etc.please keep your chin up...and eyes peeled...take care lorraine
