Our Bradcot Portico does not fit our new caravan - no matter how we pitch it a pole cuts straight across a window.  As we already have a sleep annex etc., we are thinking of buying a small Bradcot full awning and converting it to a half awning the right size.  Does anyone have any experience of carrying out this sort of conversion?

Anne

A few on here have done this. You have to be brave tho' as you need to cut into the beading, I think, at the point where it needs to come out of the rail and drop down the side. Also you have no way of attaching it to the side, I can't remember offhand what people did about that.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.

This is done by using double rails (similar to that used for the wheel arch cover), and a padded support which in turn attaches to an upright rail which clamps to the roof pole and is pegged at ground level.

We did this with our Trio Mexico awning ( turning it into a Combi) when we changed to a larger van.  We had the modification done professionally at The Canvas Repair Centre, and have been completely satisfied with the results.

Bertie.
