I have a pressurized water system. with a Pressure Switch & Carver Thames Water Pump. It as a onboard tank as well. The problem is when the water runs out the pump keeps on going untill it burnsout. I always look on the panel to see if the red light is on but my OH does not so its running for hours on end with no water. Is there away of modifying it in someway to stop it from doing this. Or will i after start doing the pots all the time instead of OH.

Make sure your Aquaroll is full before you wash the dishes would be your best course of action or educate your partner to listen for the change in tone of your pump when it runs dry
if its one like this, the knob on the top is to regulate the preasure for it to come on and go off, turning anti clockwise decreases the preasure, clockwise will increase it,so try decreasing or icreasing it till the pump stops when the taps are turned off and on.

------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
Pete.
pete1946 yes it does have one of them a Pressure Switch but if the water runs out there is no Pressure to trip the switch to turn the pump off.
Skatty my pump runs for a few seconds after turning a tap off & till the pressure trips the switch.
jennifernn we can ear the internal pump but not the external.
she did make me laugh one time when the water run out & the pump burned out. i shouted at her & told her i was sick of telling her about it. so she replyed. how do i know when the water as run out. I said sarcasticly (derrrrr when the water stops coming out of the tap.
So, if i get this right, its all fine, exept when the water in the barrel runs out, the, because of the lack of water, there is also a lack of water pressure, the pump runs burning it out.
SO.
THIS will be what you are looking for.
basically a retro-fit timer, it will stop the pump running after a pre-set amount of time, thus stopping the pump running dry.
unless there is water to pressurise the the switch it will not swith off the pump and could damage the pump if it keeps running dry, these acturly work on back pressure not pump pressure,as the pressure build up from the tap end when closed, the small unit inside closes leaving pressure from the switch to the tap

Hi, in this months practical caravan there is a firm advertising a water pump pressure switch that self adjusts to pressure and voltage, and has dry run protection it's a direct replacement for existing pressure switches or will convert switched tap systems might be worth callling, their details are,
Our Lunar has a presser system. There is a switch to turn on the pump circuit, with a built in light which comes on when the pump is running. I don't see any reason why you could not incorporate one in your system.
