This is my first year having a caravan i am storing it on a site which is outdoors is it a must to have a cover or is a good cleaning and waxing ok.

I use a breathable cover, it does keep all the usual dirt off so saves the extra work first outing,

I would say it depends on the van, if its quite new, I would get a cover, however if its older (like mine) a cover would cost as much as the van!
a good clean/wax should be fine, grease all the steadies etc, chock the wheels well, remove the handbrake.

alternativly use it in the winter, the it wont need it!!

A cover is a good idea specially if you park under a tree. Nothing is quite so hard to get off a Birds***
