We are a bit flexible, haven't said it's not a penny over £1000, but we don't want to go too far and be forever worrying about damaging it and losing value. We had a £6500 van a couple of years ago and cringed every time the bikes got knocked over, or awning poles got too close.
We've got a cheap car to run till it drops and are hoping to do the same with a van for now (till the kids have left and we can think again).
Know what you mean.....we pretty much did the same ....that's why we didn't buy a new van but saying that i didn't want something that had come out the arc and was too old......(with damp problems you can never be too careful)....This is a stunning van for the age and price but everyone has a budget.....
