We have a 240v 60w garage inspection lamp.  This has a shade on one side (turned so the light shines on the 'van).  Hung from the centre rafter pole, it give enough light for reading without being too bright from outside the awning.  Although a bit utilitarian it is fairly robust. Cost less than £5 from Lidl/Netto.  I fitted a switch to the lead for convenience.

Yes, I'm interested to know where you got them too 'cos we're going away New Year and everyone uses lights for their caravan/awning and I  WANT SOME TOO!

Babyish I know, but I don't care lol ........

Hi, i bought my lights from "caravanstuff4u" from ebay.

However, i have noticed a better deal from another trader.

I cannot vouch for them, but they seem cheap and include free delivery.

(edit-just noticed it is the same trader Tony has linked to above etc)

Snap.
I recycled my old work extension light, but we put a low energy bulb in it. Very cool, which allows us to use it in the tent in summer as well.
