Well we did it............took our new to us caravan away this weekend to Searles in Hunstanton.
We had a miserable Summer in a tent, but eventually found a van we could afford a few weeks ago.
I was already committed to taking my Brownies on their pack holiday so we only managed 2 nights in the van, but loved it.
It rained and it was freezing outside, but we snuggled up with the kids and watched TV and drank a little snifter of Jameson whisky - bliss.
Had a swim in the pool and ate fish and chips. It's been a busy half term and I am going back to work tomorrow for a rest, with a smile on my face.
Where shall we go next?????????
We've just got back from Ripley Caravan park and had a lovely time. As Kinza123 said it was freezing in the evening (hubby left the sleeping bags at home doh!) but we had a small oil radiator that I leave on low during the night and we were snug as a bug in a rug!! Were planning on going away end of November, we try to go once a month even if its for a weekend somewhere local.
Glad you had a good time. We only got our new-to-us van in April this year so have yet to experience a winter break in it. Our first time will be in four weeks when we have a long weekend on the Lincolnshire coast - I'm really looking forward to being snuggled up in there if it's cold outside!

im back too from greenhills bakewell, derbys, cold out but heatin on in van and warm as toast, sittin there with shorts,t shirt n a cold beer ,love it,,,,,pleased u had a good 1st experience keep it goin

Hey gazmister123 you're right about the Smart - might not be very well insulated on top but my bum stays toasty all the way to work.
I love my Smartie, now the kids are getting older they don't want to go anywhere with me anyway so I can enjoy myself all alone, no more mum's taxi.
I used to drive mine in the winter with the roof off and a hat on heating on and heated seats warming Lovely, People thought I was mad
Mine was red and silver passion with a black roof, Called Billie the Bumper car (says a few things about my driving) I had to get rid and buy a more baby friendly dad car
I still threaten I will buy another one, I know its sad but I loved the smart, When I sold it I drove it to London to the buyers house as I wanted to know where he was going to live, I used to wash him every week and vacuum once a month. I still get the urge to wave to other smartie drivers!

A couple of times I have waved to other smartinies when I was driving our Pajero, they must have been confused?
Don't know why a car can grab you like this, it's never happened to me before. Mine is a black and silver passion, and yes I have driven topless with the heating on and shivering,and singing Mamma Mia at the top of my voice driving through Nottingham - sad......
My cousin is desperate to get one, but the decent ones sell in hours round here, so we must have good taste
We went away a couple of weeks ago in ours and was fine with the heating on, its our first year vanning and learning as we go along, we've now decided not to put the awning up in the colder months as we didn't use it and have had to bring it home to dry the morning dew off it. With the summer we've just had I think the weathers better now! May be colder but have had more clear blue skies.
