Hi

Has anyone "etched " the CRIS numbers on their van windows as i had to register the van myself as its an import and they are sending me the kit soon. Is it easy to do? as i am a bit worried about marking the windows etc..

Did it earlier this year.

No problem at all, just follow the clear instructions provided.

You get a kit of bits and the job is easy, just follow the instructions and you will have no problem.I did a couple of windows last year.

I think I'd be more worried about getting all the letters and numbers in the right order!

Just to advise that i have now completed this. It did not take long. I double checked the numbers etc.. with CRIS before starting also. The CRIS number comes as a stencil kit for each window.

The blue "etching substance" is a bit messy and can stain.

The only issue i had was the window where the "security warning sticker" should have gone as with all the other windows i put the numbers in the bottom right hand corner as recommended but the sticker is larger than the space you have to fit inside your van / window.

You cant really trim the sticker either or you loose some of the info on it.

I can live without the sticker though as its obvious than the van is CRIS registered due to the numbers etc.. on each window.

Andy, we've just bought a new van and the dealer hadn't etched the new numbers on the windows. The stencils for these number are in the vans welcome pack.
Where did youngest your etching kit from please?
