We bought a digital one a couple of months ago. The dial ones are too unreliable because the needle jumps around too much and therefore the actual pressure is very hit & miss.

ignore the dial as they are very unreliable, buy a digital gauge.

Make sure you use it regularly. I had a Michelin one, it cost about £30 a few years ago. The valves inside tend to get sticky if it is not used for a while. I eventually bought a cheap analog one and a pressure gauge for checking thr tyre pressure. Having opened a Michelin one up, the actual compressor is incredibly basic and identical to the ones you can get for £5 in a bargain store. You are only really paying for the gauge and the name. You can get a digital gauge for under £10.
And yes, the instructions do state that it needs to cool for ten minutes after every ten minutes of running. So it could take a long time to inflate the wheels on that 4x4.

We have the michelin tyre inflator and the main problem is getting the connector to latch onto the caravan tyre valve. I have now bought a wolf compressor. With 2 cars, a caravan and a horse trailer it is handy ( also inflatable paddling pool ).

The one I have has a screw connector (like a valve cap) with a little button to release air if you over inflate.
I have never tried to blow up a completly flat tyre but it will stick 60psi into an Ivor Williams trailer tyre.

That sounds a better idea - the one I have has a lever to pull over and it didn't work well.
