I took my caravan in for its 2nd service only to find out that there is a problem with the front panel cracking where the front panel meets the roof. This is on a 2007 model, damp reading 30% one side of the van plus there is a crack in the rear panel where the side light meets the awning rail.

This is a van thats less then 2 years old that needs a complete new front panel aswell as a complete rear panel.

Just to let people know that this is still happening to the new vans.

Lets hope that Bailey fix it under the warranty. (6 year warranty)

This is not uncommon, and from what I have read from other forum Bailey has been good at fixing them.

thats awfull, bet you are upset,i would be.we have a bailey and so far its ok.there has been quite a few baileys in the last two years with cracking in the same place as yours on the join of the roof and front panel.the cracking of the rear panel is a new one but can understand it because ours has stress cracks on the rear where the panel meets the rail.

Hence my previous post I would not have a baileys if you paid me this has been happening on and off for a fair few years now with various excuses coming from baileys they do seem good on repairs but as far as i'm concerned I don't want a van repaired inside the first five years of its life

I would guess cracking in plastic panels would be caused by lack of ridigity in the whole structure causing the body to flex excessively, that might explain damp problems as well. Maybe the designer was attempting to make the structure as light as possible to allow a high spec of interior fittings & keep the overall weight down. I would certainly ensure corner steadies were wound down quite gently & not used to level the caravan even slightly.

Cue Returnee & German caravans.
