we bought a sunncamp porch awning from ebay, very similar to the one from towsure. we tried it out & it took 10 mins to put up. we are really pleased with it. the one on ebay came with the awning skirt too, sure you have to pay extra on towsure for it. we bought a groundsheet from a local dealer at the weekend. can't wait now to try it out for real.
Well the Bradcott Portico Plus is an 11ft wide porch awning. Its the only one that you can attach an annexe to. (Sorry, I was trying to work out where Towsure came into it!!)
We bought one a couple of years ago, but because the caravan entry door is at the front, it looked like a bag of spanners when attached. That was because there was little clearance between the side window and the door - it either stopped the door from opening, or if we moved it forwards, it went right across the middle of the window. We gave up with it in the end and sold it at great loss!
I recently bought the Portico Plus awning from Towsure and would not recommend it as the design currently stands. Although it is low cost I do not think it is of suitable quality to allow it to do the job it is supposidoley designed for.
Unfortunately the Portico Plus has not lived up to my first impressions, neither has the after sales service from Towsure which has been very poor. This awning is easy to put up with only 3 poles used. However, on the first night I used this awning, what I would class as no more than a moderate to strong gusting breeze rose and the horizontal pole which keeps the awning taught and is retained in a small pocket, passed through the end of the pocket where the reinforcing was stitched to the outer seam of the awning. This happened due to poor stitching not because of the strength of the wind. The reinforcing material was not properly stitched during manufacture. The awning had been up for a maximum of around 12 hours.
I have now had the pockets reinforced at my own expense since my dealings with Towsure have been less than adequate.I cannot therefore recommend the purchase of this awning as the design stands, nor can I recommend the use of Towsure as a supplier.I believe that the poor quality of the stitching of the pockets means that this awning may fail easily as happened with mine. Sorry, but given what I now know I would not purchase this or any portico awning sold by Towsure.
Lots of these around and we had one for a few years and was still going strong when we sold it,they are a bit loose against the van so don't expect a draught proof seal.
When not using our full awning we use one similar to the Portico Square which gives us a bit more room and clears the door better,it is made of the same material as the Plus but has different pole set up.
