i in process of buyin a rallye compass 500 was wanderin about the water i had a caravan with no hot water so i not know about these things how does it work is there an on board tank also what size water but do you need. thanks june

It will most probably be equipped with a water heater as per Dmans post. The commonest ones are the Carver and Truma systems (I think they are almost identical). These operate on ags and, in a lot of vans, also on 240v electric. They are pretty efficient although the gas can be a bit fiddly to light when you first use them. They take about 20 mins to heat up. We always leave ours on all the time as they are thermostatically controlled so they dont overheat. They also have an automatic cutout so the heat is turned off if you run out of water. They operate from the cold water inlet so you dont have to separately fill them. Hope this helps a bit

Caution!!

Check for frost damage, also check that the hot water system has not been bypassed.. if it has ask why, and get your vendor to repair it,  this actually happend to me... didnt find out till we were in linclonshire... also ensure you have a NEW drain pulg fitted, & non return valve fitted as they get brittle in time, and drain out after every camp.

Also check the water feed to your heater goes through your filter - will save a lot of heartache & money if it does xx
