Hi

Does anyone have one of these or know what they are like? We have a folding camper at the moment but the time has come to move on to a van and I am so excited. This caught my eye tonight when I was looking around the internet.

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-5232-2978-1/1?AID=9479574&PID=1428744&mpre=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/elddis-single-axle-cream-caravan-with-awning-4-berth_W0QQitemZ270354049000QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Campers_Caravans_Motorhomes?hash=item270354049000&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A7%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

It looks really good but it would be nice to hear from someone who knows. Obviously we would go to view it first. We like the layout in this, however it also depends on the length as we will be storing it in our back yard.

Hi, I'd be buying a damp meter and sharpening the prongs and checking every nook and cranny personally.  It is quite an old van so check walls, bathroom, inside cabinets, the floor for springiness due to delamination, under seats in fact everywhere you can get to.

Sorry, but although the owner states this is a 1992 model, I don't think it is!  We had an Elddis Shamal (an older version than this one) in 1993/1994.  I know the owner states that this is a 1992 model (and shows a handbook) but it looks much more like the one we had from the front so check it out carefully.  If you look on ebay there's another 1992 Elddis which has a much more 'streamlined' front gas locker.    Ours had the same sort of front as this one did, and ours was a 1980 something model not a 1992!  If you look at 1989 caravans on ebay you'll see that they also had the more streamlined front locker and more sculptured grab handles than this one.

It was fine, for us - diner which converted to bunk beds at the back, good sized bed at the front.  Ours had the 'porta-potti' like this one does (which again makes me suspicious about the age because the other Elddis 1992 has the fitted cassette toilet).

I know the owner states 'no damp'  but like all old vans you'll need to check this one thoroughly for signs of damp - under the windows, around the door frame, under the awning rail, and around the grab handles at the front and rear.  Damp is a caravan killer, and you really need to be certain what you are looking at - so if you have any caravanning friends ask if they will come and have a look with you.

Hey thank for your advice, I think we will probably give this one a miss. I thought it was a bit cheap for what was on offer but just wanted to see what others thought. Thanks again.

Jen
