Hi there,
We are about to go on our first outing in our caravan which we bought last October. We have checked everything and seem ready to go but unfortunately the previous owners left the toilet full of white and blue stuff. All seems to be in working order and smells fresh but everytime we flush (after draining the old stuff out) we keep getting black bits in the bowl. Anyone got any ideas about how to stop this?
Thanks!

It is called "Thetford toilet water tank cleaner" about £2.50 from places that sell the other toilet products.------------- Jennifer

The black bits are algae that forms in the damp tank, it is not harmful. Flushing through a few times with warm water may also help.------------- Jennifer

I always use the Thetford Toilet tank Cleaner each year at the start of the season to get rid of the black bits. You are supposed to leave the solution for 24/48 hours. This year I forgot I had put the stuff in the tank and it was left in there for just over a week (reading this thread reminded me!). Does anyone know whether this would have done any damage to the seals or any other part of the toilet?------------- The Chinster.
Some people are just all show. I don’t mind that if the show is worth watching but ….
