Had a new,to me, caravan delivered on sunday and between 4 of us managed to pull it onto my side garden. Am trying to swop the caravans round now so the one i am selling is on side garden and new one is on hardstand. Problem is the bloomin thing wont move. We tried as a family last night and it will rotate side to side but not move forward or backwards. Tried again with about 8 lads and can only move it slightly. My thoughts as a none mechanic person is the breaks may have seized on, the caravan was not used for a couple of years prior to towing down here. As the caravan is in my garden nose first i cannot get the car to the front to try to move it, i have to rely on muscle.

Help please!!

I take it the coupling is fully forward with the bellows uncompressed? Try getting hold of the handbrake rod & pushing it backwards as the brakes might still be slightly on with the handbrake off. Failing that try jacking up removing wheels & tapping drums with hammer. If all that fails the hub/drums will have to come off. If it will move from side to side, it may be only one side thats siezed

Sell my camper? I'd rather eat school semolina!

cheers marty your a Had tried changing over the existing hitch for my old alko 3004. Decided not to but could not put the hitch back on properly and knowing i was going to have a alko fitted in a couple of weeks i just bolted back on so i could get hitchlock on, had pushed it back to get on.

This is why i love UKCS, there is always someone there with the knowledge.

Caravans now moved and my existing one now advertised for sale.

I hope you don't mind me sticking my nose in. When you come to jack it up Bill, obviously you wont have the stabilisers down or the hand brake on. So, please make sure you chock the wheels & try to ensure it can't roll off the jack before removing the offending wheel. The last thing you want is someone caught under a falling caravan as you start trying to free off the brakes.

If it's been stood for a while & you're not mechanically minded, it might be worth getting a mobile service man in to give it a once over & sort the brakes out. They could be in need of a reline.
