We had a powertouch on our last van & we're going for another on our new one, the man in the workshops where the van's being prepared for us told me they're both as good as each other.
you cannot compare them directly as the Truma only drives 2 wheels while the Powertouch 6 drives all 4 wheels.
I would expect the PT to turn the van a bit better and to cope with a heavier van. I have seen a Reich 4 wheel in operation and it did seem to turn the van a little better, but still nothing like the turning possible on a single axle.
You also have to consider if you are happy with the weight of the unit, losing or having to move your Alko wheel carrier, and the price with 2 cross actuation kits ( perhaps they do electrical engagement now?), and (possibly) the Alko carrier adapter.
The confusion arises because some posters are using the wrong terms.
Both the Truma TE and the Powertouch 6 are "Twin Axle Movers" , but the Truma TE is "2 wheel drive" while the Powertouch 6 is "4 wheel drive".
The Truma has 2 motors and is usually fitted in front of the front wheels. It does not interfere with the Alko carrier, or the jacking points if you have them. It has electric engagement, so no extras to pay for. It is about half the weight (33 kg) of the Powertouch 6.
The Powertouch 6 has 4 motors that drive all 4 wheels of the van, they fit in front of the front wheels and behind the rear wheels. This means you need to move the Alko carrier (if fitted) further back, they do a kit for this.
You need to add 2 of the kits for engaging the motors, I see they now have electric engagment, this will presumably be similar to the Truma.
Before deciding, take a good look under the van to check there are no pipes or heating ducts where the motors will fit. If there are then these will have to be moved first.
Incidentally, the company which owns Truma now also owns Powertouch, but they are to continue marketing both brands.
