I've just had my caravan serviced by a mobile engineer.

I have to say that I think it is probably THE most comprehensive service the caravan has ever had and the beauty of it was that the guy invited me to watch him carry out every aspect of the service, so I know it was done.

His charge was very reasonale - £130.00 + £10.00 for parts and he was on my drive for the best part of two and a half hours.

After seeing and hearing what workshops want to charge for a single axle service, I shall certainly be using this bloke again.

Cheers!

Vic

That is very reassuring to know, as I'm thinking about doing the same thing.

One thing that worries me, though, is whether a mobile servicer will be able to stamp the service book? I have a 2-year old Fleetwood, still under its extended warranty (whatever that means now that Fleetwood have gone under!), so I would like the service record to be kept correctly. The one I've seen is NCC registered, so I guess he might be able to stamp it. Obviously, I'll have to ask him!

Did your guy provide a check-list?

Elddis insist that the engineer has certain registrations and is an Elddis service trained engineer also.-

Does he cover Sussex?

He provided a check-list and he stamped my service booklet. He is CORGI registered and an approved Dometic repairer. Don't know about the Elddis "thing" but as my caravan is now out of warranty this aspect is not really an issue.

He's based in Hertfordshire and covers parts of Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire. I would think that Sussex would be off his radar frankly but there must be similar in your area. Take a look in Yellow Pages. That's where I found my bloke!

Cheers!

Vic

Load of Tosh.

As just posted on the other board.

ANY workshop can service ANY Caravan as long as they are Approved by the NCC.

NCC Approved Workshops

The other Poster was asking about Bailey as Bailey Dealer's tell you the same rubbish. I've lost count of the amount of vans that have been serviced religously at the Dealers for the length of the Warranty and still have the original Alko one shot nuts on them.

Your money, your van and your choice.

If your van is under warranty then you cant gamble and have to check with the manufacturers. should damp arrive and you put in a warranrty claim the first thing they will ask is who had serviced it. If they dont approve - no warranty.. simple.
