Nice but the statistic doesnt bear out this point. Its still a big risk.
Statistics can mean anything, maybe 50% of stolen caravans are Hobbys, but I would guess 99% of caravans stolen would be considered large & suitable for residential use.
I would say if you buy a 14ft Hobby its no more likely to get stolen than a 14ft Swift.
If you buy a twin axle Swift its as likely to get stolen as a twin axle Hobby.
Hi everybody,First of all thanks to everyone who have replied to my question reguarding Hobby caravan`s,I am happy to report that i have eventually managed to purchase a two year old 640 series from a private seller who was kind enough to deliver to site for me.Please be very cautious when buying any large van private,as you know i have had some very dodgey experiences. If in doubt, don`t buy.Having said that i managed to save £2000 on one dealers price and £1900 on another for exactly same van, same year.Theft of course is a big problem but i think that applies to any large van not just Hobby`s..Having used mine recentley i am confident in saying that the extra space and room Hobbys are known for far outwieghs the reputation they seem to have,Cheer`s,Brian.
