we decided to go and have a look at caravans the weekend, just to to HAVE A LOOK,but ended up buying our first caravan. No more putting up the trailer tent yipee,am still in a state of shock though because we only went FOR A LOOK. We have bought a coachman laser 590/5 and are really excited, but dont know what to do about insurance and any extra security we should add to help keep it where it belongs.Any advice would be very welcome------------- Twin axle all the way

make sure you take out insurance before you collect it.also you need to have 2 'approved 'security devices fitted to it to be covered so make sure you get a good hitch lock and wheel clamp.you can pick them up 2nd hand off ebay or bargain pages etc.
we also use a couple of leg locks-these little gems are only about £20 each to buy and the thieves have a devil of a job to get them off.they lock your caravan corner steadies (up or down---down being best).there is a small 'key' you have to use when the lock is not fitted in order to wind up the legs.it is a very slight inconvenience but well worth it.also put them on the front!!!that way if you stop on route while towing you can easily wind down the back steadies and jockey wheel if you want to enter the caravan for a snack etc.
well done on your purchase enjoy it !!!

Yeah, done the same type of "just looking" ourselves in the past! And I once heard of someone who called in to a Dealer to buy an electric kettle, and left with a £50K motorhome!

"Just a look" is the most expensive phrase known to man. It narrowly beats "what happens if I pull this?"------------- I'll do it tomorrow

Sorry, but the most expensive phrase has to be.. "I Do"
Best of luck, that "Just a Look" was exactly how we got hooked. It has been the best thing for both of us. Hope you have a good time in it too.

Your insurers will ask for added security if they require it. We go over the top of their reqirements with ours but, having had one van taken, we want to keep this one.

Congratulations, on your just going for a look. Have loads of fun.
We have a hitch lock, wheel lock and two steady locks on ours. None of which take long to fit but would hopefully be enough to deter anyone from having a go at nicking it.
