I can only add how Sorry I am. It leaves a dreadful feeling, knowing someone has been in and through your stuff doing God only knows what!
My caravan (touch wood) hasn't ever been a target, but were broken into at our previous house and it took me a long time to 're-claim' the house. It was a strange feeling, but I felt almost as if it wasn't my home anymore.
Not the point I know, but I hope your insurance covers all the losses and damage quickly.
Really sorry to hear this.. Not sure if its much help, but a new lock barrel with 2x keys is about £9 from most caravan shops, they should be able to tell the type from the key you have, easy to fit too. I do hope they catch the buggers.
Would you believe it though? Spent all morning before work trying to sort out the lock (been quoted £125 !!) Popped home for a brew before work and some body had nicked 2 mountain bikes out of the back garden.
Don't know whether to laugh or cry. I think it just goes to show that if people really want to steal your hard earned property theres not a great deal you can do without becoming obsessed.
Just keep paying the insurance premiums I guess and try to remember that there are more nice guys than bad guys. All you people in the caravan community are proof of that.
Get a 12v Push Switch & a 12v siren. fit the switch to the door & the siren under the van linked to the battery. You could even link it to the cd player so that comes on full blast playing god save the queen.
This would spook them big time.
Had our van done, pinched knife and forks and load of bits and bats, coats boots, but the weirdest thing was the wifes clouts ! From a "secure site " too, the scummers even poured salt and washing up liquid over the dash where they,d taken radio, ( hides fingerprints, but knacks the wiring, new loom fitted ) if I,d have got them, well they,d have got community service, me 12 months, bring on the middle east laws, chop their blooming hands off !
------------- Keep smiling, its later than you think !
Kev is your van stored at castlecroft caravans in Radcliffe? I had mine stored there for a while my van was broken into and many others were at various times. The people who run it just dont care, there attitude is if you dont like it find somewhere else! So we did.
Good luck mate.and find somewere else to store it if you can...
