Hi

I am looking to buy a Coachman 460/4 1991, and just wanted to know what weight it is.

In the front box there is a plaque with 2 weights shown as 1000kg and 770kg.

Does anybody know what the weight of this is - apologies if this sounds stupid...first time on the site

Thanks

I would would expect the lower figure to be the unladen mass of the caravan and the upper figure to be the Maximum laden weight of the caravan. This would be about right I looked at a very similar van (1994 model ) when it was new with a view to buying it and it was within the towing limits I had set myself which were in that region. You need to be aware that in 1991 the weights on the plate for the unladen mass were stated as plus or minus 10% so the unladen mass could be anywhere between 693kg and 847kg.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Thanks very much for this - I really do appreciate it.

My car has a maximum towing capacity of 1200kg, and it says to ensure the weight is below 85% of that, so I should be fine

Thanks again

Graeme

Hi - we're thinking of buying a 1989 model of this van. Does anyone know if the weight will be the same as we are in a similar position re towing capacity of car. We are also novices we don't want to take on too big a caravan!
Any advice welcome - thanks

We now have the caravan and I think the weight is 770kg. If you look in the front box there may be a plaque with the weights on?

I tow mine with a Honda with 1600 engine with no problems (so far anyway!)
