Using the search tool I see this item hasn't had many fans but not much has been posted recently. Have the later improvements i.e. tractor type wheels and a footplate made any difference to the usablilty of the hitchdrive or does it still suffer from poor performance on anything but flat concrete?

I think that the lack of replies indciates that ti is not very good. Loads of them can be found for sale in PC magazine and even on this site. All I can suggest is to look for a proper second hand mover and scrimp and scrape to buy it as you will not regret the decision.

We bought a Purpleline Hitchdrive to move our folding camper (when we had it) off our drive.  No such luck, would'nt shift 750kgs of folding camper an inch up a very gently sloping drive.

We were very disappointed but sold it very quickly to a man who wanted to manoeuvre a car trailer (with car on) around awkward garages.  He was delighted with it but then he was on flat concrete.

Surfer01 gives good advice about saving up for proper mover.

Jazzycats.

P.S. Good to see another ABI van owner!

Jazzy,

Was your one a Mk 2 though? Me and my partner can manage the caravan ok but just looking at anyway to make things easier. Not really thinking of a full blown mover at this point.

I have to agree with Surfer01 and Jazzycats. We found the Purple Line mover a complete waste of money. This was, admittedly, the Mk I version. We switched to a second-hand Mr Shifta, which worked OK on our old van, but ended up splashing out on a motor mover when we got our latest van. It may have cost close to £1000, but it was most definitely worth it!

Please don't waste your money on a Purple Line unless you only want to use it on perfectly level concrete!!
