Our Apache awning is too small for our new van and we cant get it altered as the difference is too big, they will only do up to 1m and  we are short by 1m 20. The caravan shop will sell us a kit to use it as a big porch for £60. My question is, what poles would we need to do this as I am sure buying the bits would be cheaper than the kit. The other thing is do we cut the awning bead or spread the rail, I am loath to mess about with my new van though. My hubby thinks we wont need poles he says if we cut the bead it can just be pegged down at either end but will the bead not scratch the side of the van. Also will I need to sew some velcro to keep the poles (if I need any that is) attached to the roof of the awning, I am sure we have ties for the other roof poles. We only use the big awning for our main holidays and the little porch for weekends so its not an option to buy a new one.

Hi, sell your Apache awning on fleabay should get £100 - £150 for it depending on the condition. Buy a Lichfield full awning of the right size for your van again off fleabay. They are fairly basic but for £100 quid brand new and free delivery they are a bargain. We bought one a while back and they are brill for the price you get a draught skirt, wheel cover, pegs, curtains and colour coded poles for easy erection,no comment please.      Cheers Mick.
