I got a van for £1200 on ebay and it is fab, no damp and cherished and loved by previous owners...just had a good feeling from who we were buying from and were not disappointed when we went to collect without viewing first!!!!!  We bought back in March when the season was just starting and are off on our first trip on Tuesday..so exciting can't wait.  Its a 1990 with new upholstery and curtains but a dated but fine bathroom.  At least if we don't end up liking caravanning at the end of the year, we won't have lost too much on it.  Have got two more trips booked so am feeling confident lol.

I've been reading this thread with interest, as I'm very tempted to buy a second-hand caravan for £2000 max, with the intention of leaving it over in France and just using it in May half-term and the 6 weeks school holidays. I've seen someone on E-Bay who will re-upholster older caravans and sems to do a good job. With various sporting and work comittments, I feel that I won't use a caravan much in the UK. The site I visit regularly in France offers very reasonable caravan storage and many families seem to leave their whole outift there, returning year after year. I shall keep watching this thread and am off to look on the adverts section. Good luck with your search Eleanor. And happy holidays Dawn!

HI thanks  to all who replied i appreciate all your advice. I had a death in the family so could not reply any quicker.  Well in between time i got a caravan and i forgot to mention that i would not be pulling it.  I had found a site that i like and wanted it to be there permenantly and could not afford a static so decided on getting a tourer.

         Thanks once again

Dawn C, yes please I'd like the name of your upholsterer, that's the only thing with older vans, sometimes their colours are dated!
