Hi if you have a 09 model bailey ( Must be 2009) does your alko receiver have a yellow cap in it or did it first have a foil cover with a number on it?
Just doing a quick poll over something the dealer told me and i do not agree so hence the poll.
Alko did fit a coded grub screw to the receiver socket, you had to obtain the exact adaptor 'key' from them by quoting the number on the foil strip so you could remove it. Alko could then check their records to see if you had actually bought one or not.
There was a legal wrangle between Alko and Bulldog who made the 'Max' unit that also utilised their receiver plate, Bulldog settled out of court and agreed to remove said Bulldog Max from sale. Alko stopped fitting the coded grub screw thereafter. Hope this helps.
Metal foil. Ours is an '09 model and spec but delivered in Dec '08. We were told we had to buy an Alko wheel lock if we wanted to use the receiver on the chassis as it had a keyed grub screw that had to be removed.
We did in the end and actually it feels very secure. The lock was delivered with said yellow cap to use when traveling.
Be warned though, receiver wheel lock + leveling ramps + no motor mover = 4 dimensional parking problem!!!
Motor mover will be the next add to make parking on site easier.
The reason for this is the dealer i am getting my van off say it is brand new and has just been built but they say it has the foil cover which i believe would make it an early model due to it having the foil cover.
This was stopped in feb 09 after the court case, All the bailey's i have seen at the dealer's have been early 09's , The second half of the cris go like this "BY908"
I believe a new model goes "BY909" with the Yellow cap in place as i have looked at 15 today at another dealer's.
All this is making me paranoid and i think they are trying to sell me a demo as a New van that has just been built.

Why the big mistrust of your dealer ? at this rate you will put yourself in an early grave , theres no way the dealer will sell you anything but the new van you have ordered it would be illegal to pass of something new when it was not

I'm a great believer in instinct, and wonder if your instincts are saying something is wrong with this 'van. Go with your instincts, more often than not they are right.
