hiya ..anyone solve this for me ..first outing in the new buccaneer caravel ..it has dual whale aqua water system ..when the taps are used the pump sounds like an outboard boat motor ..really irritating ..the system has not an adjuster for the flow as in the last caravan we had where you turn a white knobbed screw to balance the system to shut off correctly ..i haven't had a look at the user manual yet ..but whilst i'm on here i thought i'd post and await the outcome ..we had a great spotted woodpecker visit us on site on the bird table next to our window ..he may have been looking for a mate ..and thought we had one for him in the caravan with the noise from the pump ..17

The main problem is air being sucked in with the water from outside or I found in my case, a restriction in the outlet from the internal tank.

Air causes 'cavitation', (you mentioned boats?), in the pump head and this noise is amplified by the floor if the pump is not mounted correctly.

This has to be rare but I also found my internal tank connections bore was just 6mm diameter!! this made it impossible for the pump to get enough water to satisfy it's abilities, increasing the bore to 10mm sorted that out.

Placing the pumps mounting board on a piece of breathable groundsheet stopped the amplification and once I cured the air leak the pump is now all but silent.

Another possible cause of noise is semi rigid pipework vibrating on whatever it's touching, again though getting rid of the air should also cure this.

thanks gary ...i understand exactly what you mean as i am a retired plumber, the pump was ok when demonstrated at the dealership on the handover ..that took 3 hours almost .. i didn't hear it at all then ...but when back on my drive i tested it again knowing the caravan is not level across the axles with just a aquaroll outside without filling the onboard tank ..and it was making the same racket .. i felt the pump itself and it was knocking like a worn central heating pump impeller...i will level across the axle carefully  tomorrow when setting up at kiln park and see how it goes ..will report later ..thanks again for your time

We have a 2008 Caravel and when we first had it the noise was quite annoying.  The following three things have really improved ours. I smear a bit of olive oil round the 'O' ring inside the water inlet on the side of the van,to prevent it sucking air in.  Put some tension on the sponge pad between the pump and the accumulator. Remove the plastic clips that secure the feed pipe to the floor  now put a length of foam pipe insulation on the pipe from the valve to as near the inlet as possible.

i tested the system again on site filling the internal tank with the one pump made a racket alikened to a pneumatic jack hammer  and holding  the pump body itself and it was knocking inside ..so was the other pump when i held that and used the internal source to feed water through the taps ..i feel i may have duff pumps maybe from a faulty batch , i wrote an e mail to whale explaining the problem and await the outcome before i get onto the dealer ..what are your thoughts on this again gary ??
