Hello friends

I am a caravan Newbie and picked up my first caravan a 1994 challenger 450/5s

i have a couple of questions

1)does anyone have a user manual

2)the back beds seem very weak and i notice a recessed hole in the floor but cannot find a support.Where would this be located as think it may be missing.

3)does anyone know what paint colour the outside is as i would like to touch up some bits

thanks a lot for help

i will probably have loads more questions

I have a 1992 Challenger 490/5 SEL which looks very similar to your model (from pics of other 450/5's I have found on t'net - http://www.carssoldquick.com/carsforsale/details.asp?intTypeID=7&intAdID=3478&c=swift_challenger_450/5_se_for_sale_west_sussex)

2) If the 'recessed hole' you mention is circular, about 3 inch in diameter and metal lined then this is the base for the leg of the rear table which should have come with the van, nothing to do with the rear bunk.

The rear lower bunk is a double assembled by pulling out the rack of wooden slats just under the seat cushion.  This makes the base and the 'mattress' is then formed by arranging the seat bases and cushions to form a bed.  The upper bunk is the folded wooden structure that should be held in place by clips above the back window.  Remove from here, fold it out and then place on the side supports which should be attached to each rear side of the van about 2 feet above the level of the lower bunk.  Cushions for the upper bunk are separate and perhaps found in the wardrobe?.  The upper bunk also has guard rail to stop children rolling out - this is a 2 foot piece of MDF that is sometimes missing on older vans - check around the rear of the van down the side of cupboards, mine was between the wallboards under the rear window.

Let me know if you need any more info, I can always email pics of mine

There is no set location for the rear table to be stored (not that I know of anyway) - the table leg is a 2.5ft stainless steel tube so it' difficult to miss, if it is not immediately evident in the loo or wardrobe then odds on it's missing.

Keep an eye on eBay, there is bound to be one come up on there at some point

Hi all, Does anyone have a handbook or brochure for a 1989/1990 swift challenger 450/5s that i could have a copy of..    Thanks Dave

Hi Slimtrader, with regards to the colour of the van for touchup, i took my 450 to my local car paint supplier and they came out and matched it up for me,it wasnt expensive either, cost me £14 and that was them putting the matched paint into a large aerosol for me.

Try Body and Paintshop Supplies LTD...Canterbury Road,Chilham. 01227 738181
