Can anyone shed any light on this?

On the windows of my van, numbers are etched on them. I don't think its a CRiS registration number (or is it an old version) as they are only 6 letters and digits in total. The van is an abbey 214 GT 1989.

I Think its something to do with the type of window size etc, so if it get's damaged you use this number to order a new one... at least I think it is might be wrong
