Just tried to book a pitch using camping cheques at The Quiet Site in the Lakes. But I have been informed that they do not take them at weekends.
Has anyone else had the same problem. Its the first time we have use camping cheques in England.
Artic
No mention of that in the Camping Cheque directory! Perhaps they were find too many people using them. Trouble is the book is printed months ahead of the start of the camping season and perhaps they have changed policy. Have you checked the CC website to see if the acceptance dates have been changed?
I suppose you could pay by "camping cheque" for a couple of days, and be gone before the cheque has cleared. That must be the reason. What are "camping cheques"? We always pay with our MBNA card.
We used them last year for the first time in France and the UK at Cofton country holidays in Dawlish, lovely site. Had no problems at all. Camping cheques are great we saved a lot of money on our holiday, as long as you are prepared to holiday out of term time
£11.95 if bought with a ferry crossing ticket but £15 each without. I clicked wooda, in mid september its only £14 a night anyway, £15 in june.
Or is there a secret way to get more value from the vouchers?
Good idea but i presume most sites cannot cut costs too much.
We used tesco deals for Haven end of May & cost us £32.50 for sunday to friday. Shame they stopped them now.

The main point of buying Camping Cheques is to use them in Europe. Hardly worth buying to use them just in the UK. However useful if you have spare ones left from Europe to be able to finish them off in the UK.
You could offer them on here in the camping abroad section as lots of people use them out of seson in France. You may find someone who will buy them off you at a good price.
I expect it is not officially encouraged but if you have a small quantity I don't anything drastic is likely to happen to you. If you want to sell them mention it in the Abroad Section.
I think the dates on the Camping Cheque website may be incorrect for The Quiet Site. They've certainly accepted them in the past for weekends, because we've been, as has my son, but it may be because it's coming up to the busy season now and they won't accept them for Friday and Saturday nights.
Artic - if you are thinking of selling them, then there is actually no problem - though they do say they aren't transferrable. We've bought several different lots from people in the past, and if you can't use them, then perhaps you'd like to sell those you've bought. If so, my email address is valathomenow at tiscali.co.uk.
Thank you for your offer, If we couldnt have booked anywhere I would willing have sold them on. I know we could have gone to devon and used them but it was just to far for us at the moment.
Just booked in a Rivendale in Derbyshire for 6 nights.
Been to Rivendale - it's a nice site. We enjoyed walking in Dovedale, which is nearby, and also cycled along the Tissington Trail. Nearby Ashbourne is nice on market day, too.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
