We are travelling from Middlesborough to the northern Motor home show at pickering, towing teh van.

I notice that caravans are prohibited in Sutton Bank on the A170.
Anybody made this jorney, or similiar, in the past and have any suggestions please. As far as I can work out we would have to go down to York on teh A19 and then back up to Malton and Pickering.

Thanks

As above - Stokesley - Gt Broughton, Chop Gate- Helmsley - Pickering.  The route you are outlining is a long way round.  This is quite a twisty road up to Helmsley but very doable even with a large van.

I live in Stockton and on going to the Forest Holiday site just other side of Hemsley I went down A19.. You must avoid the Sutton Bank so you go around the route sign posted Caravan route.... Small twisty roads. Ok but took for ages.

Checked road map for route home and did as stated above Hemsley Chop gate etc... Much better road and knocked 45Minutes off going home Journey

BE CAREFULL of Bikers on this road though... One or two think there on the TT course!

ditto with most roads in the area, a169 to whitby, a170 to scarboro in particular its like a race track  in the summer months with suicidal bikers.

york/helmsley/pickering/whitby/scarboro/brid/york  is a favourite race on a sunday

I'd go Stokesly, Chop Gate Helmsley to get to Pickering from Middlesbrough if I were you.
