hi i am trying to date my tyres the caravan is a 1990 but the tyres look newer i can not contact the last owner the only code i can find on the tyres is E4 021848 does that code mean anything to you all help welcome.

hi see,any tyre over 5 years should be replaced.mine are nearly 6 but i cannot get the ones i want.go for an 8 ply tyre if you can and have them balanced.

that is the serial code of the tyre you need to find the letters dot the there will be the date after this it is only on 1 side im afraid

Just replaced mine on Tuesday as they were showing signs of cracking on the sidewalls just above the rims.........week37 2004 Nice to watch them struggle with the Tyrons......wouldn't like to have to do this at a roadside.

I've probably wasted tyres over the years but, I've always replaced ours after every third year of use. When we lay the van up for the winter, I always jack it up & place an RSJ each side under the axle to keep the weight off the suspension units & tyres for the winter. I don't like to think of them weight bearing on the drive for weeks then exected to cover 100s of miles.

there should b either a 4 or 3 digit code on the tyre wall . After 1999 there should be 4 digit code the first 2 numbers are the week and the 2nd the year. and pre 1999 i think there should be a 3 digit code with the first 2 digits been the month and the 3rd been the year. Hope this helps

pre 99 the third digit is followed by a triangle to say 1990
