you will be useing gas for hot water and cooking,the battery will work your pump from aqua roll and your lights.a good battery should last you at least 3 days, when i go to a site with hook up i always take a spare battery just in case.

We have just been away for 7 days and our 110 amp battery was fine with lighting and water pump , don,t forget it doesn't get dark till quite late so lights aren't used much.(unless you stay up til the small hours)

I go non ehu on regular basis. I have a 85 amp hour battery plus a 110 amp hour battery. The 85 is connected to the van as standard,the 110 is under one of the front seats and powers 12volt tele booster and old 12volt tele. We last a good 5 - 6 days on both, although never flattened both batteries. non ehu sites are great because they are usually quiet with no kids, not got anything against kids,been there done it they have flown the nest so now its our time. We charge the 110 before we go away as it is not connected to van charging system.

Buy a cheapo set of jump leads & if the battery gets low start your cars engine & conncect the leads for 10 minute, that will put more charge into the battery than a big expensive solar panel, you cant drop a set of leads and break them, Dont have to carry an extra 20+kg.
If your vans in storage and you want to keep it topped up get a small panel, but not for on site use..
As far as I remember, a car's alternator gives a huge amount, about 60amps? So 10 minutes will give you 10Ah, which is significant. Are there any precautions we need to take with the caravan's electrical system, or should we disconnect the battery before we start.
