Just bought our first caravan and now my hubby wants to take his bike on our trips. Is there a special bike rack you have to buy to go onto the back of the car? we have a old and quite cheap cycle rack that straps onto the back of our Ford Focus but will that be ok when towing our caravan. I don't really want to put it inside the van because of all the mud he collects on the wheels. We don't want a really expensive one after buying our new van but we do want to be safe.
We bought one of the "strappy ones" from Toys R Us for £25. Does the job brilliantly for occasional use. We just use ours for taking the bikes camping.....ideal!
------------- 60% of the time it works everytime...........
i have a high level bike rack, keeps the bike clear of the caravan when we turn, i dont like roof mounting bars, know reason really just personal choice.
roof everytime as it spreads the weight across the car rather than add weight to the nose weight issue. I spent an hour trying to get 4 bikes on the roof last night but after much swapping and changing it worked. If you put them in the caravan I have wrapped in a dust sheet and strapped it to the bars under the front sofa.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
