Hi everyone

New to site. Currently have a 7 berth Vango tent.

Looking to upgrade to a good 4 berth caravan, under £8500. Any suggestions please.

Hi Simon welcome, with that sort of budget you should be able to get a good van whatever make.

What is 'best' for one person will be worst for some.

We have a Bailey after owning vans for years it was our first new one, we knew what layout we wanted but it took us a while to choose we love it, some hate them so who knows.

The only advice I would give is find out what layout suits your needs, shop around, don't buy the first thing you see but like buying a house you know what feels right when you see it.

Good luck

Caravan's can be heavy so check the weight of you car and what it can tow.  When you know what weight your car can tow you then need to decide whether you want single or twin axle.  Twin axle's are heavier because they generally are longer.  Then you need to decide on what layout suits you.  Do you want a big bathroom with seperate shower or end bedrooms where the kids have their own space or a fixed bed?

http://www.caravanfinder.co.uk/caravans.html to help in deciding which layout suits and

http://www.whattowcar.com/ to see whether your chosen caravan can be towed by your car.

We started off in a tt then a small caravan to see if we liked caravanning which we did so moved on to a 6 berth caravan and now own a brand spanking new 'van :)

Mostly i'd advise starting off with a real cheapy just to make sure you like it and also to save you buying an expensive 'van that you then find isn't the right layout for you.  Go and see as many as you can and picture yourself in it and how you would use it.

Good Luck in your search and let us know how you get on...
