Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has tried out our idea of getting a mattress to fit the end bed in the pageant provence to make a permanant fixed bed.  We often wish we had a fixed bed and we came up with the this idea.

My mate's done this with his Ranger, it doesn't make sence to me when all he needs to do is make the bed up at the start of a trip & leave it made. I see where you're coming from but wouldn't want to commit the seating in the van to become a fixed bed myself.

Yorkie

I have replaced the lats with a piece of 3/4 ply and bought a cheap 10cm double size matress topper for £50 to even out those cushion joints, a double fitted matress cover fits a treat.

This gives us the versatility of the fixed bed and should we need to the ability to re-use it as a seating area on wet days.

Do you find the bed boards capture condensation under the mattress? I still have to design a floor for the Teardrop I'm building

Hi,

thanks for your replies.  Shielsy do you miss having the double seats or do you prefer to have the permannt bed all the time.  This is the trouble at the moment with two boys we do like the double seats so we can be out of the way a little of each other.  We only thought of this idea because my wife and I do get fed up a little of making the beds and also my wife likes to go off to bed earlier than anyone else and she feels that if she has a bed there all the time its just a matter of crawling into bed whenever and she keeps saying we should of bought a fixed bed so its to shut her up really LOL.
