As I never go to sites with EHU I use my cascade on gas all the time. I light it when I get there and turn it off when I leave. With the water heater and fridge going all the time, and normal use of the oven and hob a 4Kg bottle usually lasts me a week with some left over. I don't think that's bad at all

Hi Jennifer

Fellow Geist owner here

We tend to fill the hot water system and prime it all through, then leave the electric water heater on.

Never really use the gas unless we've forgot to switch the electric one on and we're in a hurry for the water to heat up, With the Electric it takes about roughly an hour, with gas about 15 minutes,

We turn the water heater off if we're out during the day as it seems pointless leaving it on.However I can't see it doing any harm leaving it on., If your on EHU it makes more sense to use that to heat the water than using your own gas? Just flick the switch on when you get in from your day out,

By the way on your Geist have you got a spinflo oven? Mine keeps going out after about 20 minutes and you have to re-light it, Also I can't seem to regulate the temperature very well the flame doesn't seem to differ no matter whether I turn it up or down

Just a thought,

our oven isn't a spinflo but it kept going out when I first got the van, got the dealer to check it and all sorts but after seeing a post on this site I realised  that the vent in the compartment under the oven was blocked by my pans etc. Moved these and had no more probs,

 hope this helps.

Thanks Janx, You may be on to something there as I just bunged the pans in! (Ooops) I will have a move around next time we're out in a couple of weeks,

Tend to leave it on all time on EHU but don't use gas unless need a "boost".

Leaving gas on all the time will be more expensive, for you whereas I take the view that EHU is included in site fees so may as well get money's worth and convenience of an on-tap supply!
