Hi, we have a chance of getting a NR Pullman awning for a very good price, however, it's 930 when we need 830, has anyone ever had an awning reduced in size rather than made bigger? If so any idea of the cost involved?
Cheers Michael, I've been having a look at TVS and they say they can only reduce by 75cm which I don't think we'll get away with Will be on the phone tomorrow ringing round!
my misses changed our first one, she took out 2 triangle sections from the edge of the roof, and it worked a treat. just do one side at a time and you shuld be ok.
The only thing I would be carefull of is the front valance/porch area. We had an awning modified and made bigger, as a result the front was never tight because the poles in effect moved in at the front. This is why they may only agree to 75cm as it will cause the front poles to move out and the valance will perhaps be to tight.

Talking about awnings - should I leave the removable front and side panels off before trying to erect/dismantle the awning?
we always remove ours and fold them separate, taking care not to get the zips next to a window when folding otherwise a hole would appear.much easier to handle as well.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

We remove our panels, put canopy up & then replace panels before pegging down to make sure zips aren't too tight. Lots of people leave panels in place but, we feel it makes the canopy easier to handle & lets the wind blow through it while you're handling it.
Don't do what we did once & leave panels at home though. We'd got 150 miles away from home before we realised neither of us had put panels in the caravan. We certainly haven't done it since.

We had one reduced once but only by about 10 inches or so. A friend of ours once had one reduced by a large amount & the awning never looked right after.
If you're prepared to courier it for work, Kingswood Canvas in Bristol provide a wonderful service. Whether they'd have a go at reducing by a metre would be in doubt though. They're on UKCS but here's contact details. No doubt if I've done wrong posting them, mods will remove details.

I'm worried that it won't look right BB,we've decided to leave things for now and keep an eye out for an 830, no rush as long as the old awning we got with the 'van doesn't leak like a sieve next week!

Have a look on the Dorema website, they've got some on offer. I just had a peep to get the link & saw one there for £378 your size. I ordered one off of them over the phone last week & it was here in two days.
