I have a swift challenger 550 and my thetford fridge doesnt seem to wrok on 12 V, what are the main things I should check before calling a repair man out.

your fridge will only work on 12v while plugged in to your car electrics.

I have it plugged into the car electrics but still nothing.

It only works with the engine running.

Are you sure your car electrics are ok?

I would presume so as the towbar is new.  I wonder could there be a fuse problem within the caravan.  I just dont know.

Never presume anything with towbar electrics.

Test to see if there is power on the correct pin.

Hi Soc601, I have the same problem mine works ok on 240v but nothing on 12v I've tested my towbar elecrics and power definately live to the 12s socket, anymore help on this would be welcomed. Thanks

the 12 volt feed on the fridge will only work when the engine reaches a high number of revs,this is when the relay trip in. get someone to rev up the engine and see if it lights up.with the handbrake for sure.you may hear it click in on high revs.

yep thats right i had the same problem...car running ...no 12 volt on fridge..yelled at oh to rev it up and hey presto...12 volts on fridge.
