Hi,
From tent, to bigger tent, I now wish to try a caravan as medically is better for me to be warm as I have ME as well as less 'stressful & exhausting' on arrival at my destination.
I only have a small car though, a 1.4i engine for the tow, and have heard that you can purchase small 2 berth caravans that are very lightwieght and with a awning this would be fine for me, the dog and occasionally my boyfriend!
Any clues as to makes, models, what to avoid etc? Im not fussy as would like a small project maybe, im happy to re-do carpets/curtains etc as long as fixtures/appliances work.
What do I look for in a small caravan? Any tips for a newbie?
Many thanks!

Have a look at the freedom jetstream, They are a 2 berth with washroom, Very compact. We used to have the 4 berth one without a washroom and towed it with a 1.3
They are a great starter van and made of fibreglass so don't rot, We used to use ours all year round
The main dealer is in stafford

You could also try the Fleurette Tamaris 31 like ours, only 750k we originally towed this with a 1.2 petrol Micra which towed it with ease We have since changed the car to a 1.5 diesel Micra which is even better. Our dinky 2 berth van has a washroom with loo & hot water to the basin & sink. These vans are pop-top, takes all of 30secs to put the roof up, aided by gas struts so virtually no effort required.
The Fleurettes are the older models, ours is a 2001, the newer ones are Trigano Silver but are more expensive of course. We bought ours here ,not very close to where you live but they have a good website that will show the vans clearly.
Have a look in our gallery to see ours.
Good luck with your search------------- Harvey 15.8.1995 - 18.11.2010. Run free, sweet boy x

Lol...Thanks for the posts and replies..
I am going on a caravan hunt now, got some ideas and looking forward to trying van living'
I suspect we will go next season now, as hope to buy out of season around January time (and maybe get a deal).
Failing that Steve wants to hire a retro 60's VW Camper and do the UK. Not a bad idea!

Hi I have just come back from a week in Norfolk and towed my Freedom Jetstream Prima 2 berth with a Ford Fiesta 1.4, it wasn't any trouble at all. I mention the Prima because it comes with the awning specially made for it and gives you an extra space of 8'2" square which means we left our bed made up and had all our meals in the awning and watched TV and DVD's in the evening. The table is movable so was always in the awning and with a heater blower it was lovely and comfortable.
