Went away last week to Mullion Cornwall. Was woken up by SWMBO at 6 in the morning saying we had a problem. There was water coming down the van and an indoor paddling pool in the bathroom. Turned water off from tap, it was a continual hose feed and took carpet out of the shower tray to release the pool and went back to bed.

I had to remove shower panel and the cold water inlet pipe had come away from the tap. Parkdean at Mullion where we were staying lent us an aqua vac to get most of the water out of the carpets and then we left the windows in the van open to dry the carpet out.

Now home and have removed all of the carpets and lino from the floor. I have also removed the shower tray fearing real damage however the floor appears to have escaped any real damage. Will look for new lino and new carpets soon.

It did not spoil the holiday and looking back it was quite funny. Can't wait to get back on the road.

Sorry to hear about your problems - and congratulations on not letting it spoil your holiday.  Isn't it good to think that people will help out in a crisis, especially on a caravan/camp site.  Best of luck in getting the carpets sorted.

Sounds familier Lee_Prop, was away last week and I thought my little boy had been peeing on the bathroom carpet but it turned out to be the hot feed into the sink tap had come loose.  I eventually realised that all I needed to do to fix the problem was push the pipe back into the base of the tap. Seems to have stopped the leak but I was a little surprised that the pipes are not secured more into the taps.

I found I had the same problem when I bought my van. It was supposed to have had a electric, water and gas check, when I collected the van the first thing I did was to go over everything myself for my own satisfation, and guess what when I turned on the shower taps one was off the tap (some pre-collection check)this was a push on fit not the push on type where you have to press in the collar to release the pipe, just a simple plastic push on. On closer inspection the toilet basin had the same type of push on, now all four fittings have been bonded and have a jubilee clip on as well never had any problems in the last three and a half years. If I have to change the taps I will have to also but two new fittings as well
